Although the Spanish driver was not able to finish 2nd overall by a single a point, Campos Racing driver won today´s race after setting pole position and fastest lap times. Tereschenko finished 16th and Walkinshaw was forced to retire in lap five.
Campos Racing has carried out a great season finale in the Euroformula Open at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with another win on Sunday. Alex Palou had an extremely difficult task ahead: a last ditch-effort to take the 2nd place in the drivers´ standings. Campos Racing made some crucial set-up changes and Palou took the pole position (1:40.949), with Sean Walkinshaw (1:41.739) and Kostantin Tereschenko (1:41.812) 12th and 13th on the starting grid.
In the race Palou cruised to win achieving a lights-to-flag triumph. However Artur Janosz passed his teammate Sandy Stuvik with a few laps to go when the Thai slowed down to be overtaken, so the Polish finished 2nd in the championship. “We know how difficulty our goal was. We made some gear ratios changes and they paid off, taking the pole position. We have done what we needed to do, and we didn´t finish second by a single point. But we need to have a very positive feedback, because we concluded in the same way as we started: winning”, Palou commented.
Tereschenko finished seventeenth and Walkinshaw couldn´t reach the end retiring in lap five following a clash on the opening lap.
