TRICKS TO SAVE FUEL

SORT car, motorcycle, and truck lubricant permits a fuel saving in a 20 %, thus our vehicles have a more efficient performance and are more respectful with the environment. If apart from using last generation oils we save fuel by driving carefully among other aspects, we will have the chance of saving more.

We give you some pieces of advice in order to achieve a good driving that permits us to drive the same amount of kilometers with the same quantity of fuel:

REDUCE YOUR SPEED

The ideal consumption speed lies between 50 and 70 kms/h. Speed ought to be adapted to the road on which we are driving, thus obtaining a noticeable fuel saving. Urban circulation takes great part of our consumption and it could be improved by reducing the speed on these roads.

MODERATE YOUR DRIVING STYLE

A progressive acceleration and smooth gear changes are paramount for saving fuel. Sudden acceleration, changes of speed and hitting the brakes may increase fuel consumption in a 20 %. Vehicles and trucks equipped with cruising speed control may help on this purpose. Start with a short gear allowing your engine performance and change to the longest gear possible.

USE AIR CONDITIONING ONLY WHEN NECESSARY

Not using the air conditioning may cut a 3% on fuel consumption. We should use it in a responsible way, for instance, driving with our windows open at low speed in winter.

BE CAREFUL WITH THE WEIGHT AND AERODYNAMICS OF YOUR VEHICLE

For every additional 50 kgs fuel consumption rises in a 1 – 2 %. Check your trunk, sometimes we load up more than we need. Luggage racks have a negative effect in your car’s aerodynamics. They may increase fuel consumption up to a 5 %. Open windows and sliding roofs create aerodynamics resistance, thus reducing the speed of the vehicle forcing us to accelerate in order to keep up our speed.

KEEP YOUR CAR IN A GOOD CONDITION

Keep your car in a good condition. Change oil and air filters, spark plugs, motor oil. Keeping your engine in a good condition affects consumption. Tyres can also help in our goal to save fuel. Nowadays, there are tyres specially designed to this purpose, however, keeping them with the right pressure contributes to save fuel.
